Mrs. Cooper always wanted to be a teacher, so she embarked on this journey after raising her own children. She has taught for 11 years and spent 9 of them at a charter school in Arizona.
She was born and raised in Washington State (Go Seahawks!), braved the cold in Alaska for two years, endured the heat in Arizona for fourteen years, and moved to North Carolina this June with her husband of 33 years, and two adult daughters.
She is looking forward to exploring North Carolina, and meeting all of you!

Mr. Matt Grogan is a lifelong native of Caldwell County and holds a Master of Arts and a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Appalachian State University. He has worked in local government for several years, and has also taught part-time community college classes in American Government and International Relations. As a history buff himself, he is looking forward to teaching the middle school students how interesting world history, American history, and social studies can be. Outside of teaching, he enjoys aviation, watching the TV show “Jeopardy!”, coffee, playing the guitar, and cars!

Outside the classroom, I teach children of all ages at my family’s martial arts dojo. In my free time, I also enjoy spending time outdoors whenever I can with my family and friends. I am thrilled to join the Hive and become part of the wonderful Oak Hill community!
