Step 1: Apply
The first step is to submit your application for enrollment. Oak Hill Charter School’s Open Application Period will begin on October 1, 2024 at 12:00AM. The Open Application Period will close January 31, 2025 at 11:59PM. In order to be considered in the school’s lottery, you must submit your child(ren)’s application by January 31, 2025 11:59PM. There are no exceptions. Any applications submitted after January 31, 2025 are subject to waitlist placement based on the availability of student seats. In order to be considered, your child(ren) must be residents of North Carolina by the start of school. BEFORE YOU APPLY, please read our enrollment policies located HERE.
In accordance with North Carolina state law and their state approval, Oak Hill Charter School will be holding two separate lotteries.
Lotteries are open to the public, and parents are encouraged to attend.
Lotteries will be held for any grade in which the number of applications exceeds the number of openings. Numbers are randomly selected and will continue until a number is drawn for each spot.
The lottery continues until all names are drawn. Applicants whose numbers are not chosen for admission will be placed on a waiting list in the order in which their names are selected. Those whose numbers are drawn will have an opportunity to complete their enrollment packet(s) at the lottery event. However, families are not required to be present. Those not present will be contacted by the school, and given directions on how to accept their child(ren)’s spot and enroll. There will be an option for enrolling online or receiving a physical packet.
Weighted Lottery:
The first lottery will be a weighted lottery for a limited number of students who meet the specific requirements of being economically disadvantaged. Read more about the weighted lottery process here and see if you qualify.
To accept the offer of enrollment, a parent must officially confirm their child(ren)’s spot. The School will notify all accepted parents and detail the steps to confirm their child(ren)’s spot. Prior to June 1st, any offered spot not confirmed within 10 business days of the acceptance will be deemed as declining of the spot, the student(s) name(s) removed from the admissions offerings, and those families will need to reapply for a spot on the waitlist. Prior to June 1st, ALL students must accept and FULLY enroll their child(ren) within 10 business days to avoid being waitlisted. Students accepted after June 1st must confirm their acceptance and enroll within 5 business days and students accepted after July 1st must confirm their acceptance and enroll within 48 hours. New applications will be placed on the waitlist in the order in which they are received.

FAQs
- What happens if I apply after the Open Application Period?
- After lottery results are posted, remaining spots are filled on a first come, first serve basis. If all spots are filled after the lottery, students are placed on the waitlist.
- If all of my children are placed on the waitlist and one gets selected off the waitlist, do all of my children get in?
- No. The sibling rule ONLY applies to the lottery. If one of your children gets selected off the waitlist, only that child gets in.
- What happens if I get selected in the lottery, but don’t get my paperwork in on time?
- All paperwork must be submitted within a 10 business day period of the lottery. If you do not submit ALL paperwork by the 10th business day, your child(ren) will be placed at the end of the waitlist.
